Make Music
This DESQ demo takes its inspiration from the seminal Microsoft screen saver Starfield Simulation. It combines flowing, transient design with children's willingness to make music or noise, unhindered by formal music training, knowledge of an instrument or music theory.
Users pluck shapes from the sky to make sounds by clicking and holding the symbols floating towards them. Learners may realise that each coloured shape represents a music note and attempt to build structured tunes, but just clicking and holding randomly can produce some lovely musical melodies.
Aspects of the Primary Key Stage 1 music curriculum are covered [exploring duration and creating simple musical patterns]
