Digger
Digger was originally developed as one of the curriculum-based games in Steel City [see portfolio] for 16-19 year olds to practise their spelling and recognition of misspelled words.
Players control Robo Digger, helping him dig through the mud by clicking only on the correctly spelled words. Clicking on an incorrect word results in an explosion, the robot is left momentarily stunned and blackened and the player loses a life. All of which is a little perturbing or funny, depending on which way you look at it.
To complete the game you need to dig through 15 correct spellings. The content is mapped to entry levels 2 and 3 and level 1 of the adult literacy curriculum.
