January 2009  Safeguarding for the FE sector


DESQ has developed a flexible e-learning resource to help support LSIS with their initiative to ensure safeguarding and safer recruitment in the FE sector.

The resource forms part of a range of free training resources on safeguarding, safer recruitment and e-safety, to help providers meet their responsibilities. They have been commissioned by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills due to their commitment to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults in FE following the Vulnerable Groups Act in 2006.

These resources aim to support providers to ensure the safety of children, young people and vulnerable adults using their provision by helping all FE organisations in training their staff on safer recruitment and the current safeguarding agenda.

The flexible e-learning resource contains four interactive learning modules which can be fitted into a blended learning delivery and users can choose modules relevant to their needs along with an assessment certificate. The materials are suitable for all but especially those involved in recruitment and is available on request via LSIS’s Virtual Leadership Learning Environment.
