Producer

Main Purpose of Job

Responsible for the development and production of multiple DESQ projects.

Responsible for estimating and monitoring resources (internal and external).

Assist in the development of proposals, providing estimates, budgets, and schedules and project scopes/structures, working with the Creative Director/Business Development team.

Being the primary interface with the client. Ensuring client satisfaction and that they are communicated to effectively.

Assist in the creative design of products, assessing target audience, structure of content and technical/functional design of products. Support the Creative Director or Learning Designer in the development of design and functional specification documents.

Manage the development of design and functional specification documents, working with the Creative Director and other members of the production team.

Scope of Job

  • Responsible to: Senior Producer
  • Responsible for: Initially N/A. Could involve line management of producers and production assistants
  • Salary band: £24,000 - £32,000 TBA

Main Duties

  • Deliver projects within scope, budget and schedule.
  • Lead management of projects, with support of Producer team (and Operations Director/Creative Director).
  • Act as the primary interface to clients, ensuring client satisfaction, that existing clients are communicated with effectively and that any further development opportunities are highlighted.
  • Plan project work, implement priorities, processes and schedule activities.
  • Co-ordinate and attend meetings (external and internal) and ensuring minutes/action points are documented and acted on.
  • Monitor financial aspects of a project i.e. budgets, additional costs. Raise issues to Operations Director. Ensure maintenance of the project’s budget monitor.
  • Ensure that overall schedules are maintained and all deadlines are met. Raise issues to Operations Director.
  • Set up and overview project systems – e.g. project kick off procedure, regular internal project meetings, end of stage reviews, post project evaluation etc.
  • Monitor the work and performance of suppliers / production team, including quality and performance issues, problem solving and negotiating any changes.
  • Identify and mitigate risks or issues associated with clients, suppliers, project milestones, resources etc. and ensure Operations Director is made aware.
  • Ensure appropriate delivery of project documentation (e.g. prince management system, weekly reports, quality reports etc.) and agree with clients where appropriate.
  • Liaise with Operations Director on internal and external production schedules and resources.
  • Propose and manage contractual negotiations with client and subcontractors, with support from the Operations Director.
  • Production of post project de-brief and analysis report. Evaluate project performance against company objectives.

Learning Design

  • Responsible for implementing the creative and learning design of products through the life of project.
  • In conjunction with the Creative Director and Learning Designer, responsible for:
    • Assessing the target audience.
  • Structuring content and implementing and advising on interactive learning solutions.
  • Responsible for the development of the functional design of products.

Content Management & QA:

  • Work closely with content writers, technical developers and subject matter experts, who may be partner organisations, or 3rd party suppliers or internal team members.
  • Draw up and implement an appropriate test plan and manage the trialling and testing products throughout their development.
  • Review / edit script content in line with project brief – raise any issues with Creative Director and content suppliers and partners.
  • Assist in the suggestion and implementation of improvements to production processes.

Business Development:

  • Assess new tenders in conjunction with Business Development team, assist in the development of proposals, reports, risk analysis, schedules and estimates to client.
  • Undertake research and development in specific areas as required e.g. accessibility.
  • Support the Directors in the development of business plans.
  • Assist in the identification of new clients whilst ensuring maximum development of existing clients.
  • To be responsible for research and development in specific areas as required.

Staff Management

  • To assist in the recruitment of new staff (where appropriate).
  • Ensure staff follow procedures.
  • Monitor quality and productivity.
  • Problem solve & analysis of risk.
  • Ensure delegation.

Line Management

  • Induction of new employees.
  • Conduct Appraisals, in conjunction with Supervisor.
  • Establish employee training needs.
  • Train and mentoring individual staff.
  • Hold regular one to one meetings.

Additional responsibilities as and when required.
