DoomEd aims to explore the effectiveness of a ‘learning game’ and look at learners’ attitudes and perceptions of where they learn best - whether in conventional educational settings or ‘other’ spaces. The project will also test the efficacy of DoomEd as a learning event in itself, comparing the game with more conventional e-learning methods of teaching the same subject.

Of particular interest is the nature of reflection and development of reflective practice and strategic thinking that is engendered by participation in gameplay See (Gee, 2003) and to what extent learners are engaged in digital game domains and how they construct their identities as learners as well as gamers.
